Summer Out Trip - Sea to Sky Gondola - Wednesday July 6

Youth Services will be taking a group of youth up the Sea to Sky Gondola!

The group will set out on the Panorama trail located at the top of the Gondola which is 1.3km long hike with minimal hills. This hike will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. During our outing at the top of the gondola, we will find a spot to sit and have lunch that will be provided by Youth Services. There will be lots of opportunity for photos and taking in the views of the Sea to Sky!

Come explore our backyard with us and have a chance to hang with your friends!

Cost: Free
Who: All youth ages 12-18 years old are welcome!
When: July 6th at 1PM to approximately 4PM
Where: Sea to Sky Gondola
Transportation: Transportation to and from the Sea to Sky Gondola is provided. We ask youth to meet at the Sea to Sky Community Services Office (38024 Fourth Avenue, downtown Squamish) by 1pm. If you are in need of support with transportation to the office, please reach out to youth worker Holly or Craig.
What to bring: A hat, filled water bottle, backpack, sweater &/or light coat
What to wear: Hiking shoes or runners, comfortable & weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen.
Safety:

  • This program is supervised at all times by a minimum of two experienced youth workers
  • Please include any dietary/medical/behavioral needs information in your registration form
  • All youth must stay with the group and the group must stay together while hiking
  • Staff will have extra sunscreen on hand if needed
  • This activity includes a 45-minute beginner-level hike. Participants MUST include in the registration form that they are capable of this portion of the activity

  • Registration and the Youth Services Consent and Liability form are required to participation.
  • Please note this is NOT a drop-in program. All participants must be registered for the program due to limited spaces.

 

Summer Out Trip - North Arm Farm - Wednesday July 20

Youth Services will be taking a group of youth to North Arm Farm in Pemberton!

We will meet at the Sea to Sky Community Services office at 11AM on July 20th and make our way to the farm. We will be picking strawberries and exploring the farm. We hope to see some farm animals and learn a thing or two about agriculture! This out trip is free for youth ages 12 to 18 and will include transportation, U-Pick berry picking, as well as lunch at the farm kitchen. There will be a variety of sandwiches for participants to choose from.

Cost: Free
Who: All youth ages 12-18 years old are welcome!
When: July 20th at 11am to approximately 5pm
Where: North Arm Farm in Pemberton
Transportation: Youth Services will provide transportation to and from North Arm Farm. Please meet us at the Sea to Sky Community Services front office (38024 Fourth Avenue, downtown Squamish) for 11 AM. Pick up at 5pm.

Summer Youth Nights

Youth Nights are back and will be held at the SSCS Group Room! Programs include fun games, crafts, sports, movie nights, food and more! Enjoy some hang out time with your friends, come to meet some new people, and participate in all the fun activities we have planned for you!

Cost: Free
Who: All youth ages 12-18 years old are welcome! This is not a drop in program, youth must register.
When: Fridays 3-6pm. Program runs for 6 weeks, from July 8 to August 12.
Where: Sea to Sky Community Services Office, Group Room (38024 Fourth Ave)
Transportation: Youth are asked to find their own way to the SSCS office or take public transport. Transportation is available if organized in advance with the youth workers.

Registration: Registration is required for this program, it is NOT a drop in program. Please complete the Youth Services Consent and Liability form as well as register each week below to attend:

Dinner Table

Dinner table will bring youth together to learn the basic skills and safety around operating in a commercial kitchen. Meals youth will prepare over a four week period will be the following; Naan Pizza, Chicken Stir Fry, Homemade Burgers & Fries, and Shepherd’s Pie.

Cost: Free

Who: Youth Ages 12-18

Program Dates: Group 1: Thursdays; July 7, 14, 21, 28 from 3:00-5:00pm.

Program Location: Commercial Kitchen @ Sea to Sky Community Services building (30824 Fourth Ave)

Transportation: It is encouraged youth to take the bus since they are back. Staff will be available to pick up and drop off youth if required.

What is provided: A safe space for youth to learn basic cooking skills, all food materials are provided.

What to bring: A willingness to learn and wanting to try new food.

Dungeons and Dragons Club

Youth ages 13-18 will dive head first into a “one shot” dungeon. The adventure will lead them into uncharted lands and the unknown. Youth will need to navigate challenging scenarios using teamwork, creativity, problem solving, and make rapid and ever changing decisions while forging new alliances with their peers.

Cost: Free
Who: Youth Ages 13-18
Location: Sea to Sky Community Services Office, 38024 Fourth Avenue
Date: Wednesday, July 27 from 1:00pm-5:00pm
Transportation: Staff will be available to pick up and drop off youth if required.
What is provided: Snacks will be provided throughout the event
What to Bring: A sense of adventure, a willingness to try something new, and patience.

Youth Collective is a FREE and safe place for youth 12 to 18 to connect, share, and have fun.
Join us for discussions around identity, gender, and inclusion. Activities include arts and crafts, group games, guest speakers, fun outings, and more. Open to all identities, sexual orientations, questioning youth and allies.
